- Yes it can be succesful. You just have to remember that you are both Christian. I know that the Catholics have different things that they do and say but if they are practicing, and devoted you will not have a better relationship. However it can get sticky if he isn't practicing because his values may be skewed. Be open with him and have an open mind. Find the things in common that you both can relate to. The Bible is the argument solver. If any arise. But be patient with him because Jesus was with the Pharisies.

- I'm assuming by Christian you mean Protestant or evangelical beliefs. Sure they can. Some practicing Catholics have evangelical foundations, such that Jesus is the Son of God, died on the cross and rose again on the third day and believe that by accepting his sacrifice and forgiveness and living a life according to God's will will get you eternal life, as opposed to just good works. "Faith without works is dead". I know some Catholics who do believe this. There will always be some confrontation between protestants and Catholics because there has been for about 2000 years, but find out what his core beliefs are. Don't let the "Catholic" title scare you away.
